A friend of mine shared a photo today with a caption that rings so true in my life.
Something that has fast become a regular part of the furniture in our society is an ungrateful attitude from people who don’t understand just how lucky they are to be living in the society they inhabit around the western world.
You are frowned upon if you don’t own your own home. You are frowned upon if you don’t drive a car. You are frowned upon if you don’t hold a high paying job. You are frowned upon if you dare to stand out from the crowd and do your own thing or follow your own path in life.
You can have the biggest house, the biggest car, the biggest bank account and be the first to buy all the latest gadgets that you want if you think it will hold you in high esteem among your peers. The problem is none of this will make you happy. It never has and never will.
Your friends will love and accept you regardless of your floors and imperfections. Some of the most genuine and beautiful people I have met in my travels around the world have had nothing.
So why all the focus on having everything and filling your life with objects you don’t need?
As always, John Lennon provides us with great food for thought. 🙂
